Canyon Omis

About 25 km. south of Split is the beautiful coastal town of Omis where the river Cetina flows into the sea. The last 20 km. before reaching the sea the Cetina squeezes through the mountains that form the natural barrier between the Mediterranean coast and inland. This is accompanied by numerous wildwater rapids and little waterfalls. In several places you can go rafting in rubber boats or canoes with expert guidance. For our sporty guests a real winner.

Originally Omis is a pirate village and wellworth a visit with the fortress Mirabella.  The economic prosperity was born from piracy. Omiš had excellent seamen who navigated the Adriatic sea, keeping the city wealthy. The pirates of Omiš were fierce and were known to have fast ships, protecting the city for over 400 years.

From Seget Vranjica you drive via Split along the coast to Omis. In the town you turn left immediatedly after the bridge and drive along the river to the inland. After about 7 km. you reach restaurant Radmanici Mlinica, the arriving place of all rafting trips. If you keep going on the same road you admire the splendid rough nature and will end at the highway from Split to Dubrovnik.

A great daytrip!
